This painting is found on the left of the center panel of the Monastic Horarium pictured previously. It represents the Biblical Song of the Three Holy Children, Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego, who were placed in the fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar. Their story is told in the book of Daniel. This canticle is always sung at Lauds, the third hour of the Divine Office. The smaller panel represents the small hour of Terse and shows a monastic schola. These slender panels on either side of the central Resurrection represent the founding saints of the Benedictine Order worshiping the risen Lord. The gold background is adorned with a raised motif of the Latin Breviary from which the hours are sung.
